Nose tackle Davon Godchaux has signed a two-year deal with the New England Patriots. The former Miami Dolphin’s new contract is worth up to $16 million.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter made the signing public via Twitter on Monday afternoon.

Of the $16 million contract, $9 million is guaranteed to Godchaux. In 2020, he had three sacks and 179 combined tackles with Miami. He also forced a fumble and deflected two passes from the middle of the defensive line.
Nose tackles are not an extremely popular position in today’s NFL, but Godchaux is a holdover who produces on a steady basis. He was drafted in the fifth round by the Dolphins in 2017 and has played his entire career there up to this point.
With the Patriots team in flux after Brady’s departure, they are building through signings. These include Godchaux and tight end Jonnu Smith an hour and a half after the legal tampering window opened.
