Dallas Cowboys left tackle Tyron Smith has tested positive for COVID-19 among an ongoing surge around the entire NFL. He is Dallas’ second high profile player to test positive for the virus ahead of their Week 18 matchup against the Eagles.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Thursday.
Micah Parson isn’t the only high-profile #Cowboys player to land on the COVID-19 list. Per me and @MikeGarafolo, LT Tyron Smith tested positive, as well.

Smith has played in only 11 games this season, out of a possible 16 so far. This continues his unavailability streak, as he played 13 games in 2016-2019 and only two games in 2020. Since Smith was drafted with the ninth overall selection of the 2011 NFL Draft, he has played in every game only four times.
If Smith is vaccinated, he will need to be asymptomatic and present two negative COVID tests within a 24 hour period. If he is unvaccinated, he will need to meet the previous two criteria plus undergo a mandatory 10-day isolation period from the team.
The Cowboys will try to improve their seeding in Week 18 against the Eagles.
