The Cleveland Browns have used their franchise tag on tight end David Njoku. All franchise tag designations must be made before 4:00pm ET on Tuesday, March 8. Njoku was one of the first to be given this designation in the 2022 offseason.

Njoku was drafted by the Browns with the 29th pick of the 2017 NFL Draft. He played on the fifth-year option of his contract during the 2021-2022 season. With the addition of the franchise tag, he will still have to wait another year to receive a long term deal.
In 65 games played, Njoku has 145 receptions for 1,754 yards and 15 touchdowns. His best year came in his sophomore season, when he racked up 639 yards and four touchdowns, which is still tied for a career high in receiving touchdowns.
