The Chicago Bears traded up to the 11th pick in the draft to select former Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields. The Bears received no. 11 overall from the Giants in exchange for the 20th overall pick, Chicago’s fifth rounder in 2021, first rounder in 2022 and fourth rounder in 2022.
Justin Fields has been a highly touted prospect ever since high school. He was ranked by 247 Sports as the no. 2 prospect overall going into college, just behind the 2021 first overall pick, Trevor Lawrence.
Since entering college, Fields has lived up to the expectations. In the 2018 season at Georgia, he completed 27 of 39 passes for 4 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. He then transferred to Ohio State and was quite successful as a two year starter. In total, Fields completed 68.4% of passes and threw for 63 touchdowns to just 9 interceptions. He also ran for 867 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Fields has all the skills to be an efficient NFL quarterback. His physical skills are off the charts and statistics show he has all the potential to succeed in the big leagues. Hopefully this pick can solve the nightmarish history at quarterback for the Chicago Bears franchise.
