The Washington Redskins signed former MVP running back Adrian Peterson according to ESPN.
Peterson spent the first nine years of his career with the Minnesota Vikings.
Last year Peterson played with the New Orleans Saints and the Arizona Cardinals. Peterson had 529 rushing yards and two touchdowns between the two teams.
The running back situation for the Redskins was very bleak. Second round pick Derrius Guice was lost for the season to an ACL injury that he suffered during their first pre-season game against the Patriots. In the second pre-season game against the Jets, Samaje Perine left the game with an ankle injury.
The addition of Adrian Peterson will allow Alex Smith to play to his full abilities. Smith has always been at his best when he has a capable running back lined up behind him.
