The 2023 NFL Draft is a wrap. The Browns did not come into the draft with a lot of buzz surrounding them. This was in part, due to them not having any first and second round picks because of the Deshaun Watson and Elijah Moore trades. However, the Browns took some interesting players in this year’s draft. This article will recap the Cleveland Browns 2023 Draft class rounds 3-4.
Round 3:
Pick 74: Cedrick Tillman, WR, University of Tennessee
A lot of people thought the Browns would draft a speedy receiver, like a Josh Downs. However, Cleveland went for strength instead. Tillman is six-foot-three and weighs 215 pounds. He has great hands and an insane ability to get good positioning over defenders to pick the ball out of the air.
Andrew Ferguson/Tennessee Athletics
Tillman had some time to develop because he did not take many snaps during his first few years in college. He came on to the scene in 2021 and put up some monster numbers. He had 1061 receiving yards and 12 touchdown receptions. Later in 2022, Tillman had 417 yards and three touchdowns. He was limited due to an ankle injury. He is just another great weapon to the Browns’ receiving corps that already includes Amari Cooper, Elijah Moore, and Donovan Peoples-Jones.
Pick 98: Siaki Ika, DT, Baylor
Siaki Ika is a powerful and athletic defensive tackle. He is a big man as he is six-foot-three and weighs 335 pounds. In 2021 the Baylor defensive tackle accumulated 24 tackles and 3.5 sacks. In addition to those stats, six of those tackles were for a loss. His production went down a tad in 2022. Ika had 24 tackles with two of those being for a loss. Furthermore, he was awarded second-team All-Big 12 honors in 2021 and first-team All-Big 12 in 2022. He will get his chances during the season when the Browns are expecting the run.
Round 4:
Pick 111: Dawand Jones, OT, Ohio State
Dewand Jones is six-foot-eight and 374 pounds, which will make him one of the biggest men in the NFL. He can stop pass rushers with his long arms and his strength. However, pass rushers in the NFL are quick and flexible, which may give Jones some problems at first. It will be interesting to see how NFL pass rushers take him on. Jones should be able to protect Deshaun Watson nicely once he gets reps in the NFL
Pick 126: Isaiah McGuire, EDGE, Missouri
McGuire was productive during his time at Missouri. As a junior in 2021, McGuire, racked up 55 total tackles and six sacks. During his senior year, McGuire had 40 tackles and eight and a half sacks. Cleveland came into the draft needing more depth at the EDGE position. Cleveland of course has Myles Garrett who is one of the top Edge rushers in the league. Other than Garrett the Browns lack production at this position. McGuire will more than likely get some playing time during the season if he performs well in spring training.
This concludes recapping the Cleveland Browns 2023 Draft class rounds 3-4
