The 2022 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Wan’Dale Robinson 2022 NFL Draft Profile.
Wan’Dale Robinson Background
Position:Â Wide Receiver
Size:Â 5-foot-8, 178 pounds
Class:Â Junior
2021 stats:Â 104 receptions, 1,334 receiving yards, 12.8 yards per catch, 7 touchdowns
Robinson was a playmaker at two different colleges over the last few years. He’ll take that playmaking ability to the NFL level next.
Out of high school in Kentucky, Robinson was a four-star prospect who chose to go to Nebraska. He played immediately for the Cornhuskers, registering 453 rushing yards, 340 receiving yards and five total touchdowns. Nebraska went 5-7 that season. In 2020, Robinson totaled 461 rushing yards, 240 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The Cornhuskers went 3-5. Following the season, Robinson decided to transfer back home to Kentucky. He was a full-time receiver who caught 104 passes for 1,334 yards and seven touchdowns. His play helped Kentucky go 10-3 with a win in the Citrus Bowl.
Following a great season with the Wildcats, Robinson declared for the draft. He is projected to be a mid-round pick.
Wan’Dale Robinson Strengths
Robinson is a great athlete. He has great acceleration, as he can get to his top speed quickly. Robinson also has good long speed. His change of direction and elusiveness was also on display at Kentucky. He is a very shifty player that is hard to keep up with.
His ability to make plays when the ball is in his hands is unique. He was used as a running back and wide receiver at Nebraska for this reason. Robinson also returned kicks. He sees the field well and can make defenders miss. His speed makes him a threat to take it to the house on any play.
He is a solid route-runner for the most part. While he can sometimes round-off his routes, he mostly gets in and out of his breaks quickly. He also ran a wide variety of routes in Kentucky’s pro-style scheme. If Robinson continues to work on selling his routes, his route-running can be a great strength in his game.
Wan’Dale Robinson Weaknesses
Robinson is very undersized for a wide receiver. He is 5-foot-8 and 174 pounds, which are both well under the norm. His 27 5/8-inch arms will also severely limit his catch radius. Adding some strength to his frame will help, but Robinson will mostly be resigned to the slot either way.
With his lack of size, Robinson can struggle against press coverage. Defenders can push him at the start of the rep and throw off the whole play. Because he lacks strength, he will need to work on his releases to slip the coverage at the line of scrimmage.
While he doesn’t have many drops, his hands won’t be a great asset for a variety of reasons. He is smaller, which limits his catch radius. Contested catches also present a problem for Robinson. Balls that are thrown on target will have to be completed for Robinson to consistently see the field.
Projected Draft Range:Â Third Round Pick-Fifth Round Pick
