1. Javonte Williams, RB, North Carolina Tar Heels
North Carolina ended up losing to Notre Dame 31-17. The Tar Heel offense was specifically shut down in the second half and the team didn’t run the ball very well. Williams finished the day with 11 carries for 28 yards. He also added two receptions for 10 yards.
While this wasn’t the best game of Williams’ career, North Carolina had to stop running the ball in order to catch Notre Dame. There wasn’t a lot of running room either. If he finishes the season strong, he still could be a mid-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
2. Michael Carter, RB, North Carolina Tar Heels
Both North Carolina running backs had rough days. Carter did end up playing better than Williams, but it didn’t have a great impact. He finished with eight rushes for 57 yards and also tallied one catch for 23 yards against the Fighting Irish.
North Carolina can’t even decide which running back they like better, as both players can do a little bit of everything. Just like Williams, Carter can be a mid-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft if he finishes out the season strong.
3. Liam Eichenberg, OT, Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Notre Dame had to jumble their offensive line up, as they had a few injuries heading into the North Carolina game. It all worked out in the end, as the Fighting Irish controlled the line of scrimmage and also came away with a tough road win. Eichenberg blocked well against UNC, even when there were plenty of broken plays that the Fighting Irish capitalized on.
Not only has Eichenberg played well this season, he has had a fantastic career at Notre Dame. The offensive line play is one of the main reasons that Notre Dame is in a great spot to make the CFP this season. Eichenberg could work his way into the first round, but he is a safe second day pick in the 2021 NFL Draft at this point.
4. Christian Barmore, DL, Alabama Crimson Tide
Even without head coach Nick Saban on the sidelines, Alabama had no issues with their rivals. Alabama defeated Auburn 42-13 in a dominant performance on both sides of the ball. Barmore was a key factor for the defense with four total tackles, one sack, two tackles for loss and one quarterback hurry.
Barmore has had a great season. It doesn’t always show up in the box score, but Barmore makes a huge impact. He has put himself in position to finish the year strong with the Crimson Tide. If he does so, he could be a first round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
5. Charlie Kolar, TE, Iowa State Cyclones
Iowa State got a big win over Texas this weekend and they heavily targeted tight ends in the process. They presented a matchup problem for the Longhorns and helped the Cyclones stay in the lead in the Big 12. Charlie Kolar led all receivers with six receptions for 131 yards on the day.
Kolar proved why he is one of the top tight ends in the class with his performance on Friday. It is hard for defenses to find a player to successfully cover him. He should be able to be selected in the middle rounds of the 2021 NFL Draft.
