Gladney was a three-star recruit who chose to go to TCU for his college career. The cornerback has been an impact player for the Horned Frogs for several seasons, which has made him a solid draft prospect.

He redshirted his first season on campus in 2015. As a redshirt freshman, he started eight of the team’s games as the Horned Frogs went 6-7 with a loss in the Liberty Bowl. Gladney had 40 total tackles and six passes defended. In 2017, when Gladney was a redshirt sophomore, he started 11 games with TCU winning 11 games on the season. He had two interceptions and five passes defended. Gladney started all 13 games as a junior with two interceptions and 12 passes defended. The team won seven games including the Cheez-It Bowl. As a senior, Gladney had one interception and 14 passes defended. TCU failed to qualify for a bowl game with a 5-7 record.

The member of the All-Big 12 First-Team has grown into being a great cornerback. There is a chance he is selected late in round one or early in round two of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Strengths

Gladney is a pest in man to man coverage. He can press the receiver right at the line of scrimmage, which disrupts the play. His ability to stick with his man throughout a route is among the best in the class. Wide receivers will struggle to separate from him, even at the NFL level.

He is a good athlete with solid speed and great quickness. Gladney can match up athletically with most receivers he faces. His fluid hips help him turn and not lose momentum while in coverage. When the ball is in the air, he reacts quickly and makes the play.

While he isn’t the biggest corner, he is a willing tackler. He goes toward the ball carrier like a heat-seeking missile. Gladney can shed blockers at a decent rate and he can weave through traffic to get to the ball. His form is ok and he can usually bring the ball carrier to the ground.

Weaknesses

His length is not ideal for a corner, especially against bigger receivers. This limits his ability to make plays on the ball with his radius being limited. Gladney’s shorter arms also limit his ability in zone coverage, which is partially why he is a better fit in a man to man scheme.

Gladney will need to add play strength to his frame to be a more complete corner. This will help him press receivers at the line of scrimmage better. He also struggled against bigger receivers, so adding more strength could help him wrestle with them down the field.

In most cases, Gladney’s aggressive play-style is a good thing. Some times though, he can be beaten by misdirection plays and play-action passes. Wide receivers who run good double-moves will get him to bite on the first part of their routes.
