The 2022 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Jaquan Brisker 2022 NFL Draft Profile.
Jaquan Brisker Background
Position:Â Safety
Size:Â 6-foot-1, 199 pounds
Class:Â Senior
2021 stats:Â 63 total tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions, 5 passes defended, 1 fumble recovery
Brisker starred for three years at Penn State after transferring in from the JUCO level. He is now heading to the NFL.
After spending two years at Lackawanna Community College, Brisker transferred to Penn State. He immediately saw the field and registered 31 total tackles, two interceptions and four passes defended. His play helped the Nittany Lions go 11-2 and win the Cotton Bowl. In 2020, Brisker tallied 57 tackles, one interception and five passes defended. Penn State struggled though with a 4-5 record. After returning for the 2021 season, Brisker had 63 tackles, two interceptions and five passes defended. The Nittany Lions rebounded with a 7-5 record.
After five seasons in college and three at Penn State, Brisker exhausted his college eligibility. He is now a projected first or second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Jaquan Brisker Strengths
Brisker is a good athlete for a safety. He has solid speed and body control. Brisker can change directions and shows good acceleration. He also has decent strength to go with his movement abilities. No matter which way it is looked at, Brisker matches up to NFL standards from an athletic standpoint.
He is a committed run defender and displayed that often in college. Brisker can shed well for a safety and then has a good nose for the ball. He shows good pursuit angles and speed. His run defense ends with a quality tackle that sometimes can be a big hit.
Whether it is against the run or the pass, Brisker is a good tackler. He can run the ball carrier/receiver down and seemingly always makes the tackle. As mentioned, he is also a big hitter who can help set the tone for the entire defense.
Jaquan Brisker Weaknesses
While he does have solid size for a safety, it may not match his play-style. In college, he mostly played in the box. He did very well in that role at the collegiate level, but may need to add more to his frame to have the same effectiveness against NFL players.
His coverage could be better. Brisker is athletic and has the traits to be better in coverage, but his eyes need to be more disciplined. He needs to show better eye-balance between receivers and the quarterback. If he can correct that, his zone coverage specifically will improve a lot.
He isn’t the most versatile safety in the class. As mentioned, he played mostly in the box in college. He probably shouldn’t be trusted to be a deep zone safety. His coverage skills may make it tough for him to be a nickel as well. His best bet to be a playmaker is to add strength to his body and to stay in the box.
Projected Draft Range:Â First Round Pick-Second Round Pick
