The 2024 NFL Draft is over and teams are getting comfortable with their new draft picks. The next class of players is getting prepared now for another year of college football. Each position will be analyzed in the coming days. Here is the 2025 NFL Draft prospect watchlist: Tight Ends.
Oscar Delp, Georgia Bulldogs
Delp was a four-star prospect in the state of Georgia, who decided to stay in-state to play for the Bulldogs. Playing behind Brock Bowers, Delp has seen limited time. He had a bigger role in 2023, when Bowers went down with an injury, hauling in 24 catches for 284 yards and three touchdowns.
He has solid body control and is able to bring in passes out of frame. Delp is a nice security blanket too, with the ability to make contested catches and find soft spots against zone coverage. He is limited in his ability to make plays after the catch, but he’ll really get a chance to prove himself this season as the top tight end for Georgia.
Mitchell Evans, Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Evans was a three-star prospect out of Ohio, who signed with Notre Dame in the class of 2021. In his first two seasons, he didn’t do much, as Michael Mayer was the starting tight end. The 2023 season gave Evans the chance to break out, which he did with 29 catches for 422 yards and one touchdown.
At 6-foot-5 and 260 pounds, Evans has good size for the position and is a solid athlete. He attacks the seams of a defense and is capable of making contested catches. Evans will need to work on his route running, run blocking and ability to create after the catch to improve his stock.
Luke Lachey, Iowa Hawkeyes
Lachey was a four-star recruit out of Ohio before signing with Iowa. He redshirted in 2020 then played sparingly in 2021. In 2022, Lachey delivered with 28 catches for 398 yards and four touchdowns. For the 2023 season, Lachey only played in three games due to injury, but registered 10 receptions for 131 yards.
During his college career, Lachey has filled out his frame a bit, but he needs to continue to do that, as he is listed at 6-foot-6 and 253 pounds. He runs hard with the ball in his hands and can make good catches. Proving he has returned from his injury and that he can test well athletically will help his draft stock.
Colston Loveland, Michigan Wolverines
Loveland was a four-star prospect out of Idaho who signed with Michigan. He played well as a true freshman in 2022 with 16 catches for 235 yards and two touchdowns. For the 2023 season, Loveland caught 45 passes for 649 yards and four touchdowns. His play helped the Wolverines win the National Championship.
At 6-foot-5 and 245 pounds, Loveland can continue to add to his frame. This will help him to improve as a run blocker. Loveland is a solid athlete who makes catches off of his frame and is able to run after the catch. He also is a decent route runner.
Other Draft Prospects to Watch
Jake Briningstool, Clemson Tigers- Briningstool played behind Davis Allen in his first few seasons, but stepped into more of a full-time role last season. His athleticism is solid He will need to add more weight to his frame to fill it out and improve his blocking.
Oronde Gadsden, Syracuse Orange- Gadsen is a former receiver who switched to tight end during his college career. It may not be the best fit for him at the college level, but he has been productive at the college level before getting injured early in 2023.
Brant Kuithe, Utah Utes- Kuithe is an undersized and older tight end prospect, but he has produced a lot over his time with the Utes. He may be more of an H-back at the NFL level.
Bryson Nesbit, North Carolina- Nesbit is a solid athlete, but needs to fill out his frame to really create an impact as an in-line tight end at the NFL level.
Tyler Warren, Penn State Nittany Lions- Warren has a big frame that he uses to his advantage. He also needs to continue to refine his route-running to create more separation.
Benjamin Yurosek, Georgia Bulldogs- Yurosek is another tight end who will have to add to his frame, but has been productive, especially for the college level.
