The Minnesota Timberwolves have moved on from Andrew Wiggins. By sending Wiggins and two to the Golden State Warriors, they have received D’Angelo Russell, who they have wanted since the last free agency period began.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski announced the trade via Twitter on Thursday.

The Timberwolves sent their 2021 protected first round pick and an unprotected second round pick in 2022 to Golden State along with F Wiggins.
Minnesota wanted to pair Russell with Karl-Anthony Towns by signing him, but were unable to get it done. By sending away picks to a Warriors team that seems to be tanking for them, they finally received the point guard they wanted.
It is unclear the role Wiggins will play in Golden State as of now.
