The Raptors have traded forward Norman Powell to the Portland Trail Blazers for guard Rodney Hood and combo guard/forward Gary Trent. The move comes hours before the NBA’s trade deadline at 3:00pm ET on March 25.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the news via Twitter on Thursday afternoon.

Norman Powell is a sixth-year player who was drafted by and has played his entire career with the Toronto Raptors. This includes an NBA Championship in 2019 when the Raptors defeated the Golden State Warriors in their fifth consecutive trip to the NBA Finals. Powell is averaging 19.6 points in 42 games this season, which is the highest of his career if it holds.
Hood has been a bit of a journeyman since his NBA career began in 2014. After this trade, he will have played for four different teams in his seven-year career. His best year came in 2017-2018 when he averaged 14.6 points per game. Trent is also having the best year of his three-year career, averaging 15 points per game.
