The Thunder lost yet another game to the home-team San Antonio Spurs. The Thunder had a chance, losing just by 2 points in this high-scoring affair. The final score was 120-122. Although the Thunder lost, some Thunder players showed out. This is the Thunder vs. Spurs recap.
Aleksej Pokusevski Performance
Poku had a good game again, finally. His final line consisted of 16 points, six boards, one assist, one steal and one turnover on 5/7 from the field, 1/2 from three and 5/7 from the line. Poku has been performing well on a consistent basis as of late. Over the last month, he has been averaging 12.1 points, 1.2 threes, 6.9 boards, 2.7 assists, 0.6 steals, 0.8 blocks, and 1.6 turnovers on 46% from the field and 77% from the line. If only he had been in the rotation at the start of the season, his season averages would look much better than they do right now. Anyways, he’s getting time now and that’s all that matters. Expect him to continue playing minutes down the stretch.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Performance
This guy is on a heater right now and that’s even an understatement. In this game, he put up 34 more points, one three, six rebounds, eight assists, three steals, one block, and three turnovers on 14/22 from the field, 1/4 from three and 5/8 from the line. In 16 of his last 20 games, he has scored 29 or more points. His averages over the last month: 30.7 points, 1.5 threes, 6.1 boards, 7.5 assists, 1.9 steals, 0.9 blocks, and 4.2 turnovers on a blistering 54% from the field and 81% from the line. Every OKC fan wants Head Coach, Mark Daigneault to continue playing Gilgeous–Alexander. Every NBA, honestly.
Darius Bazley Performance
Bazley had himself another good game, finishing with 25 points, nine boards, one dime, one steal, and two turnovers on 9/16 from the field, 4/10 from three and 3/4 from the line. Bazley had it going this game as the Spurs defense has been Swiss cheese this year. He needs to keep playing like this because he has had way too many underwhelming games this year. Hopefully, this can keep him going for the rest of the season. Over the last two weeks, Bazley has been averaging 16.4 points, 2.1 threes, six boards, two assists, 0.7 steals, one block, and 1.9 turnovers a game.
Aaron Wiggins Performance
Wiggins did not have it going this time. He finished with a meager line of two points, two boards, one assist, two turnovers and nothing else. He shot just 1/7 from the field, missing all three three-pointers. He’s been missing a handful of games lately and this was his first game back since his 25/9/5 explosion against Minnesota. Although not the greatest game by any means, he still has every opportunity to succeed as the season winds down. Expect him to continue getting minutes down the stretch.
Theo Maledon Performance
Maledon had a nice game off the bench this time. He finished with a line of eight points, four boards, eight dimes and two steals on 3/5 from the field, 1/1 from three and 1/2 from the line. Over the last two weeks, he has been averaging 7.7 points, 4.3 boards, 3.4 assists, 0.9 steals, 1.6 turnovers and 1.1 threes a game. Maledon has been performing well lately due to the inflated minutes. Expect Maledon to continue getting minutes in Lu Dort’s absence.
