The Phoenix Suns have the worst record in basketball. At 12-50, the team has given fans nothing to look forward to this season, perhaps besides drafting Zion Williamson.
In his latest Woj Report clip, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said the Suns’ awful record has the league’s front office concerned.
“This is an organization that is in a spiral in almost every way, and it’s a concern for the NBA,” Wojnarowski said.
“Owner Robert Sarver has not seemed to learn a lot of lessons over the years about his management style, his hands-on nature, and his ability to put an infrastructure in place and allow it to build an organization.”
While the Suns are abysmal, there should still be some hope. Guard Devin Booker is signed to a long-term deal with the team, and rookie center DeAndre Ayton has performed well, averaging 16 points and 10 rebounds this season.
Newly acquired Tyler Johnson, Josh Jackson and Kelly Oubre are all solid complimentary pieces. While there is definitely a lack of talent on the roster, the real question is getting the most productive groups on the court.
Booker and Ayton are the future of this team. It could take two to three more seasons before the Phoenix Suns look like a decent basketball team, but their two main pieces make for a bright future. Add a number one pick, and the Suns have a very good core going forward.
While the Suns may be bad enough now to concern the league, it won’t be that way forever.
