The Los Angeles Lakers victory over the Milwaukee Bucks Friday night marked the probable return of the Lakers big 3.
High Praise
LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook played very well together Friday night leading to praise from each other and head coach Darvin Ham. Coach Ham praised the trio saying “Our three big dawgs play unselfishly. That’s Lakers basketball right there”.
James had 28 points, eight rebounds and 11 assists. Westbrook had 15 points, seven rebounds and 11 assists. James and Westbrooks combined for 22 assists and zero turnovers. Davis led the Lakers to their 133-129 victory by scoring a season high, 44 points.
During his post-game interview, James said “I will say I feel like tonight is the most complementary and the best game with all three of us on the floor together that we’ve played on both sides of the floor”.
Looking Towards the Future
As the Lakers try to turn their season around, many believed that a lot of their winning was due to them playing teams like the San Antonio Spurs, Detroit Pistons and the disjointed Brooklyn Nets.
Friday night’s victory over the Bucks proved that the Lakers can beat some of the best teams. The Bucks are 16-6 and second in the eastern conference. They are led by two-time MVP Giannis Antetokoumpo, Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday.
Coach Ham praised his team’s victory, saying the win was “Very indicative of who we are right now and who we will continue to be and what has to represent us. It’s winning plays. Winning happens.”
The Lakers are midway through a six-game road trip. They will visit James’ former team the Cleveland Cavaliers, before playing the Toronto Raptors, Philadelphia 76ers and the Pistons. If the Lakers’ big three are able to remain healthy and play together, then they have a real chance of turning their season around.
