The Spurs beat the Wizards on Tuesday in their first Las Vegas Summer League game without Victor Wembanyama. They shut down Wembanyama for the rest of the Summer League after their loss to the Trail Blazers on Sunday. It didn’t matter to San Antonio though as they defeated the Wizards 96-85.
Malaki Branham led the Spurs in scoring with 29. It was a nice bounce back for him after struggling shooting on Sunday against Portland. Dominick Barlow continued to impress this summer. He had 20 points and 7 rebounds. Julian Champagnie scored 18, but shot just 4-13 from the field. Blake Wesley added 14 points of his own in the win.
The Wizards were led in scoring by Xavier Cooks who dropped 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Without Wemby playing, fans missed an opportunity to see him and former teammate Bilal Coulibaly matchup for the first time. Coulibaly had 10 points for the Wizards.
The Spurs now move to 4-1 this summer and 2-1 in Vegas. San Antonio will play the Detroit Pistons on Friday, July 14 in their final Summer League game before the playoffs.
