The Brooklyn Nets have traded Kyrie Irving and Markeiff Morris to the Dallas Mavericks for Dorian Finney-Smith, Spencer Dinwiddie, a first-round pick and multiple second-round picks. Shams Charania was the first to report the news.
Irving requested a trade after a long-term extension with the Nets was not reached. He is averaging 27.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game this season.
In Dallas, Irving and Morris (3.6 points per game) will team up with Luka Doncic to try to bring the Mavericks a championship. Dallas is currently in sixth-place in the Western Conference standings.
Brooklyn receives Dinwiddie, who previously played for the franchise from 2017 to 2020, and Finney-Smith, along with picks. Dinwiddie is averaging 17.7 points, 3.1 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game. Finney-Smith has averaged 9.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
The Nets are in fourth-place in the Eastern Conference.
