The 2022 NBA Draft will be an important event for teams to build for their future. Here is the Dyson Daniels 2022 NBA Draft Profile.
Dyson Daniels Background
Position:Â Guard/Forward
Size:Â 6-foot-7, 195 pounds
Class:Â N/A
Previous Team: G-League Ignite
2021-22 stats:Â 11.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1,9 steals, 0.7 blocks, 44.9% FG, 25.5% 3FG, 73.7% FT
Daniels is one of the players taking advantage of the G-League Ignite program that started in recent years. After a year in the G-League, he became eligible for the 2022 NBA Draft.
Before signing on with the G-League, Daniels played with the Bendigo Braves of the NBL for a season in Australia. He then moved on to the NBA Global Academy. Once he signed on with the G-League, he was able to display his talent, as he averaged 11.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game.
Following one season in the G-League, he entered the 2022 NBA Draft. He is currently projected to be a mid-first-round pick.
Dyson Daniels Strengths
Daniels is a great playmaker. He sees the court really well and can set his teammates up well as he picks up the assists. Daniels should be able to operate the pick and roll well at the next level because of his court vision. He averaged about five assists per 36 minutes and his passing can help him run an offense.
His ability to finish is very good. He has good height, so he can finish with a dunk if he gets past his man. Daniels is also able to finish at the rim over taller defenders with layups. If Daniels is able to get deep into the paint he can usually finish the play off with a basket.
He is a good defender already. Daniels is able to move his feet to stay in front and his length to disrupt shots and passing lanes. He averaged 1.9 steals per game in the G-League and 0.7 blocks. There is the potential for Daniels to be a good NBA defender with his movement skills, production and length.
Dyson Daniels Weaknesses
Daniels really needs to work on his 3-point shot, as he shot 25.5 percent from deep in the G-League. He isn’t a threat to catch and shoot that well and his pull-up game needs some work. His form looks solid and he made some clutch shots in the G-League, but in order to spread the floor more in the modern NBA, he needs to push that percentage at least about 30 percent to start.
He is still growing into his body, which means he’ll need to focus on adding strength. At 6-foot-7 and under 200 pounds, he will be one of the lighter players on the floor for his height in the NBA. He could get outmuscled by bigger NBA players, while he is still working on his strength.
His athleticism might have trouble meeting NBA standards. He doesn’t have an elite first step, which limits his ability to get to the basket often. This is reflected in his 1.4 free throws attempted per game, as he doesn’t have the athleticism to regularly get to the basket. His defense is helped greatly by his length and he’ll need to work on his foot-speed.
Projected Draft Range:Â Mid-First-Round Pick
