Cam Whitmore Strengths
Whitmore has a good blend of size and athleticism. He is 6-foot-6 and 235 pounds, which is a well-built frame for the NBA. For his size, he shows good athleticism with good speed and quickness. He is strong and has shown good leaping ability as well.
On defense, Whitmore can provide value in a few different ways. The biggest way is his ability to guard multiple positions. He can guard players on the perimeter, but with his strength, he also has the capability to match up with smaller big men in the post. Whitmore also has shown the ability to generate steals by jumping passing lanes.
Whitmore may never be an elite scorer, but he can score from all three levels. He shot a solid 34.3 percent from 3-point range. Whitmore showed the ability to pull up and convert from the mid-range. He drives with power and can convert at the rim when he gets there.
Cam Whitmore Weaknesses
Whitmore can pass the ball in the flow of the offense, but really doesn’t see the floor extremely well. He won’t set up his teammates and will rarely get assists. Whitmore can work on passing out of double teams and protecting the ball, as he had more turnovers than assists at Villanova.
He is more of a straight-line driver and doesn’t have much wiggle to his game. Whitmore is a strong driver, but doesn’t create a lot of space for himself. He won’t be a player is able to get his own shot on a consistent basis.
While his positional versatility is nice, Whitmore may struggle scoring in the post if a team goes small and puts him at the four or five. He will spread the floor well for the offense, but needs to work more on the interior.
