Shamet, 24, averaged 9.3 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game for the Nets this season. He was a key rotational piece that played 23 minutes per game. The former Wichita State Shocker started his career off with the 76ers before moving on to the Clippers and Nets.
Carter is a 25-year-old, who averaged 4.1 points and 1.2 assists per game. While he played in 60 games during the regular season, he did not regularly make it into games in the playoffs. He has spent time with the Grizzlies and Suns in his career.
In Phoenix, Shamet will be reunited with head coach Monty Williams, who was an assistant with the Clippers when Shamet played there.
For Brooklyn, this move will allow them to get more developmental role players, like Carter and the 29th pick.
