Seattle Sounders vs Atlanta United
The Seattle Sounders had three chances on goal in the first half. All attempts were unsuccessful as the shots were blocked in the last second.
Atlanta United finally got their chance on goal in the 49th minute when Gonzalo Martinez scored. His celebration did not last long as the whistle was blown to signal he was offside.
In the 57th minute, Seattle made their mark when Raul Ruidiaz scored. He got the ball at the top of the 18. then dribbled in closer and lofted the ball over the Atlanta defender. He shot on the left near post to make the game 1-0.
Atlanta came back quick only seven minutes later. From a corner kick, the ball went into the box and Josef Martinez headed it into the goal to tie up the match.
Seattle got their last goal in the 70th minute. Atlanta’s defense was trying to switch the field by passing the ball through the defense. On a bad pass, Jordan Morris got the ball. He passed it to Nicolas Lodeiro and made the run to get the wall pass back. Morris dribbled it down into the right side of the box. He crossed the ball in the air, Harry Shipp came running in and headed the ball down. It bounced off the ground and into the goal.
The game finished with Seattle winning 2-1.
New York Red Bulls vs New York City
New York City got its goal in the seventh minute of the game. Anton Tinnerholm got the ball on the right side of the box. He made the cross into the middle. Heber got a foot on the ball, it hit the crossbar and went in.
Both teams got two more chances on goal before the half ended. Red Bull New York did get another chance that resulted in a goal.
In the 43rd minute, both teams were challenging an incoming ball in the box that resulted in a foul for the Red Bulls. In the second minute of stoppage time for the half, the Red Bulls got to take a penalty shot. Daniel Royer lined up for the kick and placed the ball right inside the left post to tie up the game.
In the 59th minute, the Red Bulls scored the last goal of the game. The ball came from the right corner of the field to the top right of the box. Royer got a second goal by heading the cross into the goal.
The game ended in a 2-1 RBNY victory.
