The Padres continued to be active before the MLB trade deadline and have acquired Mike Clevinger from the Indians according to Jesse Rogers. Cleveland will receive pitcher Cal Quantrill, outfielder Josh Naylor, catcher Austin Hedges, shortstop Gabriel Arias, pitcher Joey Cantillo and shortstop Owen Miller in return for Clevinger.

San Diego has already acquired reliever Trevor Rosenthal, Jason Castro and Mitch Moreland in the last few days. The Padres are clearly trying to make a run for a World Series and adding Clevinger adds an already solid roster. They are currently in second place in the NL West with a 21-15 record.
Clevinger, 29, has a 1-1 record in four starts this season with a 3.18 ERA. In his career, he hasa 42-22 record and a 3.20 ERA.
Cleveland received a massive haul of players in return for the starter. Many offers were reportedly on the table, as the team had been shopping Clevinger. The Indians curretly are tied for first place in the AL Central with a 21-13 record.
