David “Big Papi” Ortiz has been elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. He was a first ballot selection for the honor and the only player who was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2022.
The Boston Red Sox’s official Twitter account tweeted out a statement from the newly-minted Hall of Fame designated hitter after the announcement.

Ortiz is a three-time World Series champion, in 2004, 2007 and 2013. The 2004 World Series broke the “Curse of the Bambino,” and secured the first championship for the Red Sox franchise since 1918, a total of 86 years.
He was selected to the All Star game 10 times, won the ALCS MVP once and a earned seven Silver Slugger awards. He also earned the World Series MVP in 2013. Ortiz has led the American League in RBI three times and in home runs once.
