Oakland Athletics catcher Sean Murphy has been traded. The Atlanta Braves have acquired Murphy in a trade that reportedly involves multiple other players. The names of these players have not been released at time of writing.
The first to report the trade was ESPN’s Jeff Passan. He tweeted about it on Monday afternoon.
Murphy made his MLB debut in September of 2019, with the Oakland A’s. He’s been with the team for his entire MLB career up to this point. The 28-year-old has one Gold Glove season under his belt, last season in 2021.
In 148 games played last year, Murphy batted .250 in 537 at-bats (612 plate appearances). He also collected 66 RBI and 18 home runs last season, managing to place 22nd in AL MVP voting. 2022 was his best season at the plate.
