Nimrod has been out in Marvel Snap for a couple of weeks now, but players are still trying to figure out where the season-pass card belongs. At five energy, Nimrod fits in a very difficult spot in terms of playability. He’s a bit too expensive to play along with other typical destroy strategies players see in Marvel Snap. His power is a bit too longer to be a true, end-game style card. He’s somewhere in between, and it’s our job as players to see where exactly he can make an impact. Here are just a few Nimrod deck list ideas to aid in the brewing process.
Nimrod Destroyer
Deck List: Iceman, Sunspot, Scorpion, Bucky Barnes, Armor, Wolverine, Colossus, Deathlok, Nakia, Wong, Nimrod, Destroyer
To be completely transparent, someone attempted this combo against me while I was just trying to climb the ladder and I thought it was one of the most interesting ideas I’ve seen in a long time. The plan for this deck is to assemble a the combination of Wong, Nimrod, and Destroyer to flood your side of the board with 5-power robots. Placing Destroyer on top of Wong will destroy all of the Nimrods twice, netting you ten power in one location, and five in the other. Your turn six play now generates 35 power.

That is to say, it’s 35 power before adding any other of the support cards in mix. Wolverine is one of the best adds in the game in any circumstance where he may be destroyed multiple times. We also have Armor to keep another lane healthy, and Colossus to be an impossible to remove threat. Bucky Barnes is neat, as it adds another six power to a Nimrod location – though in games where you double up Destroyer, it won’t be as solid.
The list can certainly be toyed with, especially with the early drops. People could work with some version of a ramp deck to try and rush out Destroyer and Nimrod. There’s something there with Destroyer and Nimrod, though maybe the list is missing just one crucial piece.
Nimrod Galactus
Deck List: Iceman, Daredevil, Wolverine, Psylocke, Electro, Wave, Shang-Chi, Hobgoblin, Nimrod, Doctor Octopus, Galactus, Death
This is list one of two where there wasn’t much creativity going on, but Nimrod just kind of works in an already solid archetype. Galactus and Nimrod work incredibly well together as a one-two punch in games where you don’t find either Electro or Wave. Slam Nimrod on turn five, slam Galactus on turn 6, and you most likely have a solid lane to take home some cubes.
The rest of the game plan is just the run of the mill Galactus deck. This is the tough part about building around a card like Nimrod. The best way to utilize their ability is to sometimes just jam it into something that already works. The bummer about that is that most of the time, the new card just doesn’t do enough. and gets cut. There is a chance that Nimrod does give this deck more explosiveness, but it is going to be quite some time before the data indicates the card is worth it.
Nimrod Zola
Deck List: Zero, Sunspot, Titania, Lizard, Armor, Cosmo, Shuri, Task Master, Red Skull, Nimrod, Arnim Zola, America Chavez
Now this may just look like another Shuri/Red Skull list, but this one has Nimrod in it! Jokes aside – this list has the same problem as the one prior. Nimrod can be a great card paired with Shurt and Arnim Zola, but why settled for a doubled up Nimrod when you can have a 30-power Red Skull? There’s some merit to playing a Nimrod over Red Skull however. Nimrod doesn’t buff your opponents creatures. Nimrod also produces four of itself when hit by Arnim Zola.
Otherwise the list just plays like the often-hated Shuri decks on the ladder. Play things that protect big threats, set up the big threats, then slam the big threats.
Is There Hope for a Unique Nimrod Deck?
There is certainly some amount of hope for Nimrod out there. Nimrod could finagle itself into a Cerebro-5 type of list. There could even be another destroy card out in the future that is waiting to make Nimrod the belle of the ball. Until then, Nimrod might just sit in the corner waiting for his turn to dance.
