Dominaria United is set to take place in the present time just after the events of Dominaria. Wizards has noted that players will certainly see some familiar faces from previous sets. Most likely characters like Terferi, Jhoira and Karn could be making another appearance in the latest venture into Dominaria. Fans will have more clarity of what to expect when the Dominaria United reveal stream debuts Thursday July 21.

As a Standard set, Dominaria United will usher in new cards to shake up the format. Last time players entered Dominaria the format was dominated by mono-color strategies thanks to a cycle of powerful mono-colored rares. There is a small chance that will be the case again, as Magic recently featured several multi-colored sets that would leave mono-colored strategies in the dust. Well, aside from Mono-Green Stompy; Mono-Green will always be a thing.
Could the Rumors Be True?
There have also been some rumors of “Priceless Treasure” cards making it into some packs of Dominaria United, generating a odd combination of excitement and sckepticism. For those that are unfamiliar, previously Wizards had run a promotion called “Priceless Treasures” where they would randomly insert Reserved List Cards into packs of Zendikar. The idea was to create more of a exploration-feel with the set, as it’s overarching theme was “discovery and adventure”. Ultimately it made for some incredibly amazing moments from cracking packs, but lopsided games in draft formats. Either way, as it’s just a rumor, players can rest easy knowing they will get the full story on Thursday during the Dominaria United reveal stream.
