For many in the LCS community, 2023 brings with it more than a new season, it brings about a fresh start for their teams as they attempt to forget about their international play. Most of the teams LCS teams have made changes including CLG now being NRG. Also, this will be TSM’s last Split in the LCS before their move. The LCS did not change its format for 2023 but they did change the times and dates for games. This year games, will be on Thursdays and Fridays. This is very different from the Saturdays and Sundays that LCS fans are used to. Along with this, they were going to start at noon PST but that was recently moved back to 2 pm PST and 5 pm EST. Even with some fans pushing back, Riot Games has decided to keep these times and dates for the 2023 Summer Split.
The teams will also still be playing only 18 games a split or two a week. Many fans were hoping to be getting three games a week or potentially even Best of Threes back. The LEC have a new system that does have more Best of Three and Five series than in years past. For the LCS, there will be a few Super Weeks which means games Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. This cuts out one week meaning that there will be eight weeks for each Split.
It will be interesting to see what happens for the 2024 season as it looks as though there will be major changes. With all of the drama this offseason with teams leaving and the NACL getting essentially tossed to the side, fans are probably just ready to get the season started.
The official 2023 LCS Summer Start Date will be on June 1, 2023.
