Bud Light is coming on as the Official Team Beer of Team Liquid League of Legends. This is the first beer sponsorship of any LCS team. Although, Bud Light is also currently a partner of the LCS broadcast itself, featured in “Bud Light Breakdown,” where the analysts discuss after the day’s matches, and
“Bud Light League Lounge,” a more laid back discussion show at the end of the week’s matches each Sunday.
As part of their partnership with Team Liquid, Bud Light will host virtual tailgates for ages 21 and up. Featuring Liquid talent and casters, as well as live games and giveaways on the Team Liquid Discord channel. Prizes includes official Liquid jerseys and tickets to upcoming events. Bud Light will not be featured on Team Liquid’s jersey.
“As Bud Light continues to grow in esports & gaming, partnering with a top tier organization like Team Liquid is a natural fit,” said Joe Barnes, Director of Sports Marketing & Head of Esports and Gaming at Bud Light. “We look forward to bringing new content and experiences to the fans throughout the LCS season.”
“We’re big fans of how Bud Light continues to make an impact within the space,” said Steve Arhancet. “So, let’s kick things off, tailgate with our fans and bring them closer to our League team – as we compete for another championship.”
On Sunday, February 21st, LCS pros CoreJJ and Jensen will make a special appearance on Bud Light League Lounge. Team Liquid and Bud Light also have new content for fans to enjoy, including:
“Coaching After Dark” (on twitch.tv/budlight): a four-part, live-stream series where TL’s LoL coaches and talent deliver one-on-one chalk talks and strategy sessions to two aspiring pros.
A podcast-style show featuring the LCS roster, coaching staff and friends of the squad, talking all things LoL esports. Fans will be able to submit questions, and it will be available across Spotify, Apple and Google podcasts.
The Bud Light Takeover
Beer sponsors are ubiquitous in the world of traditional sports, so esports seems like a logical next step. Bud Light itself is already the Official Beer of the NBA and NFL, Overwatch League and NBA 2K League. Will any other beer companies enter the space?
