With a new season of League of Legends worlds upon us, Riot has brought upon an amazing anthem featuring worldwide K-Pop Phemena: NewJeans. The music celebrates key figures in the League of Legends professional community, utilizing high quality animations and amazing music production.

The music video’s story centers around Deft — currently playing for Dplus Kia. It presents his story in animated form, where he began playing League of Legends in high school, and eventually winning Worlds playing alongside DRX in 2022.
Gods ft NewJeans (뉴진스) highlights Deft’s struggles as an underdog, playing against bigger than life figures such as the legendary Faker.

At a certain point in the video, he points his gun down Keria — the widely acclaimed support playing prodigy. Faker rushes in to defend his younger teammate, resulting in the LeBron James of League of Legends pointing a staff in Deft’s face.
Deft’s teammates rush in to defend him, which eventually leads to victory over the giants that are T1. The music video then shifts the focus from not only Deft, but towards all the members of DRX. All members of DRX proudly hold up the trophy, celebrating their hard won victory. They went from being considered the “weak” players to becoming Gods themselves.
NewJeans will likely perform the song live for League of Legends World Finals — as is tradition with every yearly competition. Occurring in Korea, the live event is sure to be incredibly popular among locals. The K-Pop group is incredibly famous in Korea, with hits such as OMG and Super Shy constantly playing in every public space within the nation.
NewJean’s Gods is an incredibly different kind of music than what they’re typically known for, and is a breathe of fresh air.
