After an amazing week of action, a new set of OP 5 must be crowned. With some returning faces, and a few new ones, it was a tough week to pick the OP players of each position. With that being said it’s time to see who was picked for week 7’s OP 5. As always, if you missed last week’s OP 5 check it out here!

Top: Kim “Khan” Dong-ha (SK Telecom T1)

Despite SK Telecom T1 losing their only match of the week against Griffin, Khan makes his way into the OP 5 this week due to his great play throughout the series. Despite the loss in a very close series, Khan had Choi “Sword” Sung-won’s number a majority of the early games. On top of that, Khan was a key playmaker through the series, especially in their game 1 victory.

While Khan and the rest of SKT were unable to pick up the win, an easy schedule to finish off the season will be a great chance for them to build some momentum going into the playoffs. Along with that, if Khan plays at the same level as before, he should have an easy time dominating every game in order to find himself back in the OP 5 in later weeks.

Jungle: Lee “Tarzan” Seung-yong (Griffin)

Tarzan had quite an eventful week leading up to being this week’s OP jungler. For a large part of the series against SKT, Tarzan was having a rough time and wasn’t able to dominate the game like usual. However, huge plays in both game 2 and 3 from the world-class jungler helped Griffin secure the win and keep the undefeated season alive, along with that Tarzan picked up both MVP honors. Tarzan then followed up his performance against SKT with an amazing performance against SANDBOX Gaming as he completely dominated the game, dying a single time each game.

With the hardest challenges behind him, Tarzan has made a strong case to being the best jungler in Korea. Whether he’ll be able to compete against the best junglers of other regions remains to be seen. For now, Tarzan will take the title of OP jungler for week 7 and will start getting ready for the final push to the playoffs.

Mid: Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon (Griffin)

After a break from League of Legends, Chovy makes his return to LCK play and his return to the OP 5 as well. Against SKT, Chovy did struggle at times, but was mostly able to keep up against the great play of Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok. His best play during the series came in-game 2, where he took over and played a huge role in their victory. Meanwhile, against SANDBOX Gaming, Chovy was unstoppable, dying a single time and picking up a MVP honor for his game 1 performance on Galio (6/0/8).

As Chovy’s great play continues, it’s becoming harder to imagine anyone taking the OP mid spot for the rest of the season. As long as Chovy continues his stellar level of play, it’s very likely the OP mid honor is his.

ADC: Jang “Ghost” Yong-jun (SANDBOX Gaming)

Despite a rough 1-1 week for Ghost and the rest of SANDBOX Gaming, he is still able to pick up the OP ADC honors for week 7. Through the week, Ghost had a 10.5 KDA playing a mix of champions. But his best performances of the week came on Ashe, where he had a collective score of 7/0/23 across two games, during which his positioning and overall play was fantastic.

While Ghost has been consistently a great player through the season, he still has competition in Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu for the title of best ADC in Korea. With both teams having big matches remaining in the season, Ghost can still easily take that title from Deft. For now, he get the upper hand on Deft as the OP ADC of week 7.

Support: No “SnowFlower” Hoi-jong (KT Rolster)

With the first appearance in the OP 5 (not including honorable mentions) by a player from KT Rolster, SnowFlower takes this week’s spot as the OP support. While KT has been struggling through most of the season, SnowFlower’s play has been mostly solid. His consistent play has finally been awarded this week as the OP support. While KT went 1-1 this week, SnowFlower quietly had a great week overall. His play on the likes of Thresh and Galio was great as he made a lot of fantastic plays to help lead KT to some better results.

What makes the play of SnowFlower even more impressive is that he has been doing this without a top-tier ADC like other OP supports in the past. Hopefully an upgrade in the ADC slot in the Summer will allow SnowFlower to shine. For now, he’ll have to live with the honor of being the OP support for week 7.

Honorable Mentions:

As always, with all the great players, it’s hard to fit everyone in. Here are some honorable mentions for the seventh week of action:

This week’s honorable mentions start off with jungler Moon “Cuzz” Woo-chan (KingZone DragonX), who absolutely dominated DAMWON Gaming in Kingzone’s only game of the week. With a single death for the series, Cuzz completely out-jungled Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu on his way to picking up both MVP honors. What makes it more impressive was that his great play with done with Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu having an off-week.

The second honorable mention of the week goes to ADC Park “Teddy” Jin-seong (SK Telecom T1). While he lost his only game of the season, Teddy was on a tear once again as he went 11/2/7 through the whole series. Even with Khan and Faker both stepping up recently, Teddy continues to be one of the best players on an absolutely stacked team. As long as he can keep up his level of play, SKT could become the favorites to win the playoffs.  

The last honorable mention goes to this week of action in general. With some great games like SKT against Griffin and shocking moments like Jin Air Green Wings taking their first win, it has been a great week of action for fans to watch. While every week has seen some solid action so far, week 7 has been without a doubt the best week of LCK action so far this season and deserves an honorable mention for likely being the OP week of the season.
