With another split on the horizon, the ten teams of the LCK will all be looking towards the goal of winning it all and qualifying for worlds. With the finish line in sight, every player will be stepping up and trying to become the difference maker for their respective teams.

Through the chaos and all the intense matches set to come, a few players will stand out. So let’s look at some players to keep an eye on as they have the potential to stand out throughout the regular season!

Yoo “Naehyun” Nae-hyun (Kingzone DragonX)

With the usual starting mid laner Heo “PawN” Won-seok taking a break due to health issues, Naehyun will be taking over the starting spot for a Kingzone team that had a great performance in the Spring Split. While Naehyun’s reputation is less than great due to his past results, this will be a great chance to prove himself.

If Kingzone wants to maintain the same results and make another solid run, Naehyun will need to step up. If Naehyun falters, Kingzone will likely drop in the standings quite a bit. In the long run, if Naehyun can play at the level of PawN or even outperform him, Kingzone could become a contender to win it all.

Kim “PraY” Jong-in (KT Rolster)

After a brief retirement, the legendary ADC PraY makes his return to the LCK as a member of KT Rolster. While KT struggled through the Spring Split, their weakest role through most of it was by far the ADC position as both Jeon “Zenit” Tae-gwon and Byun “Gango” Se-hoon struggled against the top ADCs of the league.

Now with PraY in the bot lane, KT could make a comeback and make a late-season push for a spot at Worlds. Of course, all of this will rely on PraY being able to still keep up against the other top ADCs of the league. While PraY has shown that he’s always capable of stepping up, this will be his toughest season yet with a new support by his side and new challenges that await him. Can PraY bring KT back into contention? Or will PraY fall short? Only time will tell.

Gwon “Sangyoon” Sang-yun & Kim “key” Han-gi (Hanwha Life Esports)

While Hanwha Life Esports had a strong start to the Spring Split, they ended up falling off and ended up missing out on the playoffs once again. With the same roster heading into the Summer Split, it’ll be interesting to see how Hanwha Life does.

If Hanwha wants to succeed fans will need to keep an eye on the bot lane tandem of Sangyoon and key. If they’re able to step up and reach the level of a top tier bot lane tandem, then Hanwha could find themselves in the playoffs. While they have shown some potential to reach that level, they haven’t quite reached it fully. So with the eyes of the Hanwha hopefuls on them, it’s time for Sangyoon and key to finally reach that level.

Lee “Rich” Jae-won (Gen.G)

To finish it off, let’s take a look at the new substitute mid laner, Rich. For fans that are unfamiliar with Rich, he is widely considered the greatest Heroes of the Storm player of all time. He has now made the transition to League of Legends as a mid laner. While many behind the scene has praised how quickly Rich has been able to pick up the game, they’re still not sure if he’ll be getting any time on stage. With a solid mid laner in Lee “Kuzan” Seong-hyeok starting for Gen.G at the moment, it’s understandable to see why.

Looking forward, the development of Rich will be very interesting to keep an eye on, especially if he ends up getting some play time on stage. This is the first time in recent history for a notable player from another game to make the transition to League of Legends. As a result, it’ll be very interesting to see if he can display the same dominance as he did in Heroes of the Storm. While Rich may not see play this split, it’ll be worth keeping an eye on him in the coming months.
