10. Dignitas (Last Week: 10)
It has gone from bad to worse for Dignitas but luckily they are only facing one of the top five teams during Super Week. The real question becomes, will it matter? This team looks lost as every player is underperforming and the lack of kills are bringing them down in a very serious way. They gotta try to find a win this weekend.
9. CLG (Last Week: 6)
Speaking of bad to worse, CLG went from being one of the best teams in the league to one of the worst very quickly. They, like Dignitas, are just not finding ways to create kills for themselves. They cannot seem to secure objectives very well either. The formula has had something throw in that is not mixing with the team that was as cohesive as any squad in the LCS. Even a 1-2 week still keeps the playoffs hopes alive but an 0-3 all but seals CLG’s fate.
8. Immortals (Last Week: 8)
They have wins again the two teams below them. Thats the good. The bad is that Ablazeolive is still struggling quite a bit, Kenvi is as well when not on a carry jungler and Tactical is still quite the coinflip. When this team has all its ducks in a row and the draft suits them, they have a chance. But when they don’t they lose. This will be a tough week for Immortals as they face the three best teams in the LCS. Even finding one win this week does a lot to assuage some of the criticisms aimed at the team before they head into the second half of the split.
7. Golden Guardians (Last Week: 9)
Gori is his name and respect is being earned with his play. Where would this team be without him? They are 2-2 with him on the team and heading into a very important week. There are still some questions surrounding Licorice and Stixxay but the core of River, Gori and huhi are looking like they could be quite the finds.
6. TSM (Last Week: 7)
The win over CLG displayed confidence and an understanding of these players and coaches knowing the team’s identity. It is a simple but effective formula. Solo on a tank, Maple on a scaling/mobile carry, Neo and Chime on something forgiving and Bugi just having the ability to be involved as often as possible. Do not forget that Bugi and Chime have the highest kill participation in the LCS. All that being said, losses to teams like Golden Guardians and Dignitas could ruin everything that has been shown so far this split.
5. Team Liquid (Last Week: 5)
This team continues to win and lose most of the games they should, respectively. They are growing and learning quickly though. They are 3-1 in their most recent games with wins against GG, IMT and DIG in recent weeks. If they want to move back up into the top four of the LCS though, they will need beat at least one of EG or C9. Without those wins, they will be at risk of falling behind TSM or a surging Golden Guardians team.
4. 100 Thieves (Last Week: 4)
This team has a real chance to establish themselves as one of the best as soon as Wednesday. They play Evil Geniuses in what should be a close matchup. Losses to Cloud9 and FlyQuest can be studied and remedied during the second half. But just beating everyone else below them establishes exactly where 100 Thieves are. That would mean the TL curse is sticking with Bjerg and DL even on a new squad.
3. Cloud9 (Last Week: 2)
This week is pretty simple. Whoever a team loses too is basically in front of the other. With their losses to only EG and FLY, Cloud9 sit in third. They have arguably the easiest week of the top teams which means that there is a good chance they could move up. There are concerns about Diplex’s champion pool but until he has played in more games, those concerns will have to wait before being acted upon. This team still has a very high ceiling, look for them to start working on counters to the two teams above them.
2. Evil Geniuses (Last Week: 3)
It was a convincing win against Cloud9 and a game everyone other than jojo would like to forget against FlyQuest. The good thing is this, jojo has started playing really well again. With his issues seemingly being fixed, the sky is the limit for this team. The only issue is that they still are on a lower level than FlyQuest.
1. FlyQuest (Last Week: 1)
It is official, FlyQuest are the best team in the LCS. Their three biggest opponents in C9, 100T and EG were all disposed of in convincing fashion. The crazy part about this team is that VicLa is still getting his feet under him and Eyla still hasn’t played a game for the team. Once at full power, this squad may actually just be unstoppable. Also Prince is in first for MVP right now and it may not be all that close.
