With only a few days left in 2019, Golden Guardians have announced a rebranding. After spending its first few years matching with the Golden State Warriors they will be going for something a little different. This comes with the announcement of the brand expanding into multiple new esports.
The new colors will be gold and what looks to be a more charcoal type black. The logo keeps the sword with a shield around it. The sword will move into a downward position to cross over the shield. They have also removed the aspects that were related to the Golden Gate Bridge. While the logo will be reminiscent of the old one it will still have its new take as it is not only recolored but a more simplistic overall design.
The team revealed an announcement video for the new brand as well
“Expanding our esports portfolio is an integral part of growing the Warriors brand from just a basketball team to a sports and entertainment company,” Kirk Lacob, Vice President of GSW Sports Ventures.
Jerseys have yet to be revealed.
This rebranding seems to show a change in mindset for the organization. It almost feels like a more mature design than before. With the expansion into so many new games, it seems as though the organization decided to reset everything. Their main game in League of Legends has made some questionable decisions and it will be interesting to see what happens with the NBA2k team as it is specifically based on the Golden State Warriors.
