According to Jacob Wolf and previously in the day, Travis Gafford, FlyQuest are finalizing the buyout of Licorice, Palafox and Diamond from Cloud9. It is presumed that all three of these players will start on a roster that has been completely torn apart.
For a team that has been ravaged by players leaving and other teams just picking them apart, FlyQuest goes out and buy three of Cloud9’s best players that are currently available. Licorice was known to be on the market and had been discussed as an option for at least two other teams. He will be joining after coming off a strong 2020.
Palafox and Diamond join from Cloud9 Academy. This was a team that many believed could challenge some of the lower tier LCS main rosters and win consistently. Palaxfox has been a mid laner that people have been waiting for to make his LCS debut. It has been a long time coming and it will be interesting to see if he can live up to the hype.
Similarly, Diamond was considered to be the best Academy support and many didn’t believe it was close. He was a player, like Palafox, that was first seen at the LCS Scouting Grounds and impressed a lot of people. During the last few seasons, he has continued to grow and was only being held back because he was stuck behind Vulcan. Now he will also get his chance to shine and show the other LCS teams what they might have missed out on.
