Freeze joined EG as head coach in November 2020 and was considered a promising addition to EG’s coaching staff, coming off a successful career at 100 Thieves where he helped the team win the 2021 Summer Split and achieve second-place finishes in both splits during 2022.
However, despite high hopes and expectations, EG’s performance in the LCS Spring Split was lackluster. The team ended the split in fourth place with a regular season record of 10-9, and their split concluded with a 3-0 loss to Golden Guardians in the playoffs.
EG’s management has not yet announced who will replace Freeze as head coach, but in a recent tweet, they expressed “great pride and commitment to the competitive performance and talent development” of their LCS roster.
As for Freeze’s future as a free agent, it remains unknown at this time. However, given his past success, it would be surprising to see him step away from coaching or not find a team in either the LCS or LEC.
Regarding Evil Geniuses, it will be interesting to see their next moves, especially after recent reports of most of their players potentially being on the move, indicating a complete overhaul of their LCS roster. With the offseason approaching, there are bound to be some intriguing changes, and The Game Haus will have it all covered.
