The brand new DLC celebrating the start of season 5 has officially released for Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Strikers. Offering new jutsus, a brand new ninja tool, and some exclusive outfits, the Shinobi Strikers Minato DLC (reanimation) is a solid addition to the defense type ninja. It provides great alternatives for more play variety.

Though the Shinobi Strikers Minato DLC (reanimated) is rather solid, it isn’t necessarily super overpowered or broken. The new Shinobi strikers DLC earns a solid A- in regards to overall ranking, making it worth the purchase, but not overpowered. And here’s why.
New Jutsus
There are two new jutsus provided in the DLC, Celestial Air Slice Type-Zero and Flying Raijin: Guiding Thunder. The first jutsu sends out kunai, which allows the CaC or Minato to unleash a massive area of effect barrage. The second jutsu creates a barrier, which blocks projectiles.
Celestial Air Slice Type-Zero will likely be the jutsu most commonly used from this DLC. It allows the character to become invulnerable to almost every attack (excluding ultimates), and locks the enemy in place for quite a while.
This therefore allows for follow up potential from the allied team, and is a generally super cool looking move. Expect defense-type users who love a good combo build to run this quite often.
Flying Raijin: Guiding Thunder, on the other hand, is a bit too niche to stand out. The area of effect sphere it creates isn’t necessarily small, but with the new maps being as large as they are, getting full usage of the move is rather difficult. This rings especially true when there is little to no communication between teammates.
Outside of perhaps base battle, or maybe even flag battle when protecting the allied flag, Flying Raijin: Guiding Thunder will see little, with plenty of more versatile defense type moves available.
Ultimate Jutsu (Secret Techinque)
Shinobi Strikers Minato DLC (reanimated) gives defense types a brand new ultimate jutsu, Flying Raijin: Jiku Shippu Senko Rennodan Zeroshiki. This move sends out a kunai. If it hits, the user will Swift Step towards the target and launch a combo attack plus rasengan.
Though Minato reanimated’s Secret Technique looks sick, the animation and wind up time simply takes too long. Enemies can simply walk out of the way when seeing the telegraphed set up. And since it doesn’t one shot, there are better Secret Techniques for defense types to choose from.
Shinobi Tool
Shinobi Strikers Minato reanimated DLC provides a brand new ninja tool, the Flying Raijin Kunai: Instant. This is easily one of the biggest redeeming factors for purchasing this DLC, as the new ninja tool can be used on every class.
What the ninja tool does is it essentially allows the user to flash forward in an instant — heading towards the target direction. If players throw it at an enemy, the character will teleport right in front of the enemy upon hitting them, allowing for combo extensions. In addition, the extra mobility of an instant teleport provides incredible mobility when simply navigating the map. This therefore making it an invaluable tool for flag battles.
In conclusion
As the first DLC to start off season 6, the Minato reanimated DLC is honestly pretty good. It’s not completely meta changing, but certain aspects of the new character will definitely see play. And as a whole, the new moves and ninja tool seem rather well thought out, providing great variety while not just completely breaking the game. Looking at you, reanimated Madara for healers.
