Hello players! The Kanto starters are rotating as raid bosses while Charizard is slated to show up as a boss again. Given that these are seven-star bosses, they will not be easy to take down. Given that Venusaur is the first one, this 7-Star Venusaur Raid Guide will go over how to handle that raid in Scarlet and Violet.
Raid Boss Profile
This 7-Star Venusaur will be a boss from February 28 to March 5. It has the Ground tera type and is at level 100. As most raid bosses do, it has its Hidden Ability, Chlorophyll. As Venusaur’s normal type is Grass/Poison, it will have plenty of attacks to lash out at players who are not prepared. This is Venusaur’s moveset:
Earth Power
Sludge Bomb
Giga Drain
Amnesia
Extra Moves:
Sunny Day
Growth
Petal Blizzard
Strategy
The biggest asset, at least for those doing a damage role in the raid, is to pick a Pokémon that can resist Venusaur’s attacks. Players will need Pokémon resistant to poison, ground, and grass. Recommended types are Dragon and Ice. However, those are not the only options available to players.
Players could get friends to bring either Bellibolt or Arboliva. Bellibolt is a good electric type that can use Light Screen to counter Venusaur’s special attacks. Likewise, Arboliva’s Seed Sower can use Grassy Terrain to increase friendly grass attacks from Pokémon such as Ice Rider Calyrex.
However, these are not the best options as Bellibolt is susceptible to Earth Power, even with Light Screen. Seed Sower would not only also heal Venusaur, but increase the power of moves like Giga Drain, putting players at a disadvantage. Below, however, are some of the best options.
Chesnaught
This build is more for solo strategies, but it can be used with others.
Type: Grass/Fighting
Tera: Grass or Stellar
Ability: Bulletproof
Held Item: Shell Bell
Nature: Adamant
Recommended EV Prioritization: Attack, Sp. Defense, HP
Moves: Belly Drum or Swords Dance, Seed Bomb, Leech Seed, Spiky Shield
Chesnaught’s typing helps it resist Venusaur’s grass and ground moves. Due to Bulletproof as well, it will be boasting an immunity to poison moves such as Sludge Bomb and Acid Spray. Finally, being able to use Spiky Shield will cause Venusaur to miss hits on Chesnaught users while their allies punish the boss for them.
Having a shell bell also helps make back damage from Belly Drum, which is most likely the better choice than Swords Dance as a Light Screen user can help keep Chesnaught in the game for players to max out their attacks in one turn. Chesnaught is a pure god-tier choice for this raid.
Frosmoth
While Ice Rider Calyrex is a more powerful Pokémon, Frosmoth is a perfect low-effort choice. Here is a build:
Type: Ice/Bug
Tera: Ghost
Ability: Ice Scales
Held Item: Light Clay
Nature: Calm
Recommended EV Prioritization: Sp. Attack, Sp. Defense, HP
Moves: Snowscape, Aurora Veil, Struggle Bug, Giga Drain
Frosloth is a good defensive support pick as it can decrease Venusaur’s special attack with Struggle Bug. Along with that, it can further halve damage done to it with Ice Scales. Not only that, but Aurora Veil will help tank up its allies and neuter moves like Sunny Day. These two together can make a devastating combination.
Conclusion
This is the end of the 7 Star Venusaur Raid Guide. This is only the first day and people have already gotten their battle-ready plant frog. Get out there and battle the ground tera out of him. Good luck, players.
