The Game Haus will be analyzing the player ratings from Madden 20 of every NFL team. Madden has a daunting task of rating all NFL players and their attributes. While they have the ability to correct some of these rankings with in-season roster updates, there are some issues with some of the initial rankings of players. Here are the Madden 20 questionable ratings: Miami Dolphins.
Xavien Howard- 83
In 2018, Howard tied for the NFL-lead with seven interceptions and had a good all-around year. He also had 12 passes defended, but Madden didn’t seem to adequately realize how well he played. They gave him an 83 rating for this year’s game.
The aging Joe Haden is rated the same at 83. Haden had two interceptions and 12 passes defended for the Steelers last season, for a solid campaign, but it wasn’t nearly as good as Howard’s. Howard should be ranked a few points higher based on the stats.
Adjusted Rating- 86
Reshad Jones- 83
Jones didn’t have his best season in 2018, but missed two games and didn’t have too many great players around him. In 14 games he had 72 total tackles, nine passes defended and three interceptions. Even though it wasn’t his best effort, Madden ranked him too low at an 83.
Damarious Randall of the Cleveland Browns had a similar season with 85 total tackles and four interceptions in 15 games. Had both played all 16 games, the stats likely would’ve been tough to tell apart. For that reason, Jones deserves to be rated the same as Randall’s 86.
Adjusted Rating- 86
Kenyan Drake- 79
In just 120 carries last season, Drake rushed for 535 yards, which is 4.5 yards per carry. He also had 470 receiving yards and nine total touchdowns, making him very versatile. Madden still decided to give him a 79 rating, despite his solid season.
Duke Johnson had three total touchdowns for the Browns and just 630 total yards. He is now the third running back on the depth chart once Kareem Hunt is eligible to play. Madden gave him an 80 rating. Drake deserves to be rated at least as high as Johnson.
Adjusted Rating- 81
DeVante Parker- 79
While he was drafted with high expectations, the Dolphins haven’t ever gotten a lot out of Parker. Last season, Parker hauled in 24 passes for 309 yards and one touchdown. He also got benched for a few games, but Madden decided he was talented enough for a 79 overall rating.
Calvin Ridley had a good rookie season for the Atlanta Falcons with 64 catches, 821 receiving yards and 10 touchdown catches. Somehow Ridley is rated one point lower than Parker. Parker should be docked a few points, while Ridley should be rated higher.
Adjusted Rating- 75
