The Rockets, Cavaliers and Kings have completed a three-team trade, which will send Iman Shumpert from Sacramento to Houston. The Cavaliers will trade Alec Burks to the Kings. They will also send Nik Stauskas and Wade Baldwin IV to the Rockets, while they will receive Brandon Knight, Marquese Chriss and a lottery protected first-round pick from the Rockets. The deal was first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Houston acquiring Shumpert will give them more help on the wing for their playoff push. Shumpert is averaging 8.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. He has a 38.2% field goal rate. The Rockets also will get solid bench guards in Stauskas and Baldwin IV, who the Cavaliers just received as part of the deal that sent Rodney Hood to Houston.
The Kings will get a veteran off-ball guard in Burks, who is scoring 10.6 points per game this season. He was already traded once this season, from Utah to Cleveland.
The rebuilding Cavaliers are stocking draft picks and get another first rounder in this deal. They also get a young forward in Chriss, who was buried on the bench for the Rockets, only playing 6.5 minutes per game. Brandon Knight is the other asset acquired, who is averaging 3.0 points in 9.9 minutes per game.
