The 12 weeks of the college football season has certainly brought a lot of excitement. With the more weeks that go on, more news and notes will be put together. Here are some of the things happening around the sport of college football heading into week 13.
Les Miles takes over at Kansas
While Miles had been rumored to be the next head coach for Kansas for a while now, it was officially confirmed over the weekend.

Miles has experience coaching in the Big XII from his time at Oklahoma State. He will be tasked with taking over a team that has three wins on the season. Kansas gave Miles a five-year contract.
Coaching carousel already starting
Although it started before this week, coaching changes are being made quickly this year. Here is the list of the moves that have happened already
Kansas- David Beaty fired, Les Miles hired
Colorado- Mike MacIntyre fired
Louisville- Bobby Petrino fired
Texas St.- Everett Withers fired
UNC Charlotte- Brad Lambert will not be retained as head coach
UMass- Mark Whipple will not return as head coach next season (per Brett McMurphy)
Houston quarterback D’Eriq King out for the season
One of the best quarterbacks in the country, Houston’s D’Eriq King, is out for the season with a torn meniscus.

Houston currently sits atop the American Athletic Conference Western Division and with a win this weekend, will take on UCF in the conference championship game. Clayton Tune will take over at quarterback and has 309 passing yards, four touchdowns and one interception on the season.
Rivalry week trash talk
University of Texas defensive end Breckyn Hager was talking to a reporter when he said: “OU has no defense.” He then went on to say, “And what time is it?” Hager said, “It’s 11:12…and OU still sucks.” Hager has since been reprimanded by the Big XII and has issued an apology.
“The Game” is this weekend featuring big stakes between Ohio State and Michigan. The Wolverines have lost 13 of their last 14, but that didn’t stop Michigan running back Karan Higdon from guaranteeing a win.

Notable injuries to watch
Here are the injuries that could have a major impact on the weekend:
- Texas head coach Tom Herman says he’ll know if Sam Ehlinger (Shoulder) will be ready to play by Thursday.
- Houston’s defensive lineman Ed Oliver (knee) is expected to play this week.
- X-rays were negative for Michigan’s defensive end Chase Winovich (upper-body). His status is unclear, but it looks like he will play Saturday.
- Pitt starting center Jim Morrissey (ankle) is out for the remainder of the season.

- Kentucky’s Josh Paschal played for the first time of the season after being diagnosed with skin cancer before the season.

- Former Virginia head coach Mike London will take over the FCS program William and Mary.
- Arkansas has suspended two defensive backs for a game for talking to members of the Mississippi State dance team before the game this past weekend.
- Texas will not have their live mascot, Bevo, on the sidelines this weekend as Kansas has a rule forbidding it.
