The fantasy football season is almost halfway over. This week marks a crucial one for those fantasy teams on the bubble.
With four teams on byes this week, everyone might be searching the waiver wire for replacements. Here are some last-minute fantasy football adds to replace some big names in week 7.
QB- Gardner Minshew (JAC)
With Lamar Jackson as the only notable quarterback on a bye, the waiver wire might have some striking streaming options for week 6 to replace Jackson or other quarterbacks.
Gardner Minshew makes for a great streaming option in week 7.
Minshew and the Jaguars go up against the Chargers. Although the Chargers defense is elite, they have been one of the worst defenses against fantasy quarterbacks.
They currently rank 29th against fantasy quarterbacks and have allowed three 20+ fantasy performances to quarterbacks.
Minshew comes into this matchup with the offensive weapons around him to have a competent fantasy day. He also has the capability of rushing for touchdowns which is always a fantasy bonus for quarterbacks.
Through six weeks, Minshew averages 18.6 fantasy points per game. He has had two touchdowns in every game this season except for week 3 against Miami.
Moreover, Minshew has had 17+ fantasy points in five of six games as well.
He is rostered in 49.5 percent of ESPN leagues.
RB- Giovani Bernard (CIN)
Giovani Bernard is a must-add this week in fantasy. With Joe Mixon out with a foot injury, Bernard will be the lead back for the Cincinnati Bengals in week 7.
With some lead backs on byes this week, Dalvin Cook, Myles Gaskin, Jonathan Taylor, the waiver wire can be a solid option to pick up some replacements.
This week, Bernard faces the Browns who are 16th against fantasy running backs. Although it is going to be difficult for Bernard to run against the tough Browns front seven, he should be a major threat in the passing game.
Bernard will be more efficient in PPR leagues due to his catch and run ability
Last week when Bernard took over for the injured Mixon, he finished with 13.4 fantasy points (PPR).
Bernard is a must start with him set to have double-digit carries for the first time this season.
He is rostered in 40.4 of ESPN leagues.
WR- Cole Beasley (BUF)
Cole Beasley makes for a nice waiver wire pickup this week and for the upcoming weeks.
With John Brown out once again with an injury, Beasley is now the number two receiver in Buffalo.
This season, Beasley has not had lower than 9.8 fantasy points (PPR) in a single game. He has been one of the most consistent receivers in fantasy averaging 9.8 to 18 points weekly.
This matchup with the Jets presents an extremely favorable matchup for Beasley.
According to ESPN, Beasley has a 28 percent to get more than 20 fantasy points. The opportunity is there and Beasley should have a productive fantasy game against the Jets who haven’t been the best against slot receivers.
He is rostered in 36 percent of ESPN leagues.
TE- Dalton Schultz (DAL)
Even with Andy Dalton under center, Schlutz should still have a solid fantasy day.
In his first game as the starter, Dalton looked Schultz’s way quite often. He was targeted five times and finished the game with four catches for 35 yards.
With another week of practice for Dalton to develop those connections with his pass-catchers, Schultz should be involved more as well.
He also draws a favorable matchup this week against the Washington football team. They are 28th against fantasy tight ends this season.
In the past two of three games, Washington has given up 13 fantasy points to the Rams tight end (Gerald Everett) and 20.7 points to Mark Andrews.
Schultz should have a solid fantasy day, especially against this defense.
He is rostered in 39 percent of ESPN leagues.
