The 2022-23 NFL season has already been extremely entertaining. Bye weeks are starting to take place. This means that wide receivers like Deebo Samuel and CeeDee Lamb will be out this week. On top of that injuries have started to mount up at this point of the season. It is always a great idea to evaluate backup options so that way fantasy managers are prepared if star players miss time. Here are the fantasy football week 9 wide receiver rankings.
*Ratings are subject to change due to injury reports or possible move to reserve/COVID-19 list*
(Check out the section below for details on players already rumored to possibly miss this week and how their replacement options rank for the week)
Key:
Must Start- a player who is in your lineup regardless of the matchup or most circumstances. They will likely finish near the top of the league in points that week and in most weeks.
Starting WR1- a player who makes fantasy owners comfortable starting week after week. Regardless of the matchup, this player has a high floor.
High WR2- a player who may isn’t likely to carry a lineup that week, but has the ability to have a breakout game and is teetering between WR1 and WR2 territory.
Starting WR2- a player who should be started in most lineups and should reach their point projection. This player is started is because of their consistency and moderately high floor
Low WR2- a player who may not be a lock to start for a team every week, but will start more times than not. Their production may not be pretty or win a person their lineup but the production is consistent enough to make a fantasy owner comfortable starting them.
Flex- a player who could float around the territory of being benched, but is started due to the potential to play better than their point projection. However, this player has the potential to flop and causes a fantasy team to lose if he has a bad game.
Deeper League Flex- a player who has starting value in deeper leagues. There are enough reasons to leave this player on the bench, but their upside makes them an attractive option. Desperate times may call for a player like this to be inserted into starting lineups.
Upside Player- a player who is boom or bust. This player can exceed expectations in a given week or could flop and be the reason why someone lost their fantasy matchup.
Leave on the Bench- a player who should be avoided in all lineups that week. Many times this player could even be left on waivers.

Possible Changes that can occur before Sunday
WR1 Cooper Kupp, Los Angeles Rams
Cooper Kupp missed practice on Wednesday because of an ankle injury. If he was to miss this week’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Allen Robinson would move up to WR23 between Curtis Samuel and Christian Kirk. Van Jefferson would move up to WR34 between Garrett Wilson and Brandin Cooks.
WR6 Davante Adams, Las Vegas Raiders
Davante Adams was limited in practice Wednesday because of an illness. If he misses this week’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars Hunter Renfrow moves up to WR24 between Christian Kirk and Joshua Palmer. Mack Hollins would then move up to WR38 between Josh Reynolds and Robert Woods.
Seattle Seahawks Wide Receivers: WR11 D.K. Metcalf & WR16 Tyler Lockett
D.K. Metcalf was limited in practice with a knee injury. Tyler Lockett was limited in practice on Wednesday with hamstring and rib injuries. If both are inactive against the Arizona Cardinals this week Marquise Goodwin becomes the WR27 between Jakobi Meyers and Gabriel Davis.
If Metcalf is inactive and Lockett is active, Lockett would move up to WR15 between D.J. Moore and Mike Evans. Goodwin would join the list at WR39 between Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Terrace Marshall Jr.
If Metcalf is active and Lockett is inactive then Goodwin would join the list at WR40 between Terrace Marshall Jr. and Mack Hollins.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Wide Receivers: WR15 Mike Evans & WR63 Russell Gage
Mike Evans was limited in practice Wednesday with an ankle injury. Russell Gage missed practice Wednesday with a hamstring injury. If both miss this week’s game against the Los Angeles Rams Julio Jones moves up to WR33 between Allen Robinson and Garrett Wilson.
If Evans is inactive and Gage is active then Jones moves up to WR34 between Garrett Wilson and Brandin Cooks. Gage moves up to WR52 between Isaiah McKenzie and Alec Pierce.
Green Bay Packers Wide Receivers: WR19 Allen Lazard & WR60 Christian Watson
Allen Lazard missed last week’s game against Detroit because of a shoulder injury. Christian Watson didn’t practice on Wednesday because of a concussion. If both miss this game then Romeo Doubs moves up to WR21 between Rondale Moore and Tyler Boyd. Sammy Watkins moves up to WR46 between DeAndre Carter and Julio Jones.
If Lazard misses this game but Watson is healthy Doubs moves up to WR21 between Rondale Moore and Tyler Boyd. Watkins moves up to WR48 between K.J. Osborn and Van Jefferson. Christian Watson moves up to WR58 between Michael Brandy and Tyquan Thornton.
WR25 Joshua Palmer, Los Angeles Chargers
Joshua Palmer was back at practice after missing time with a concussion. If he was to miss this week’s game against the Atlanta Falcons DeAndre Carter moves up to WR37 between Josh Reynolds and Robert Woods. Michael Brandy then becomes an interesting DFS play.
WR35 Brandin Cooks, Houston Texans
Brandin Cooks is questionable for Thursday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles with a wrist injury. He has also sat out of practices due to the chance he was traded before the trade deadline. If Cooks misses this week’s game Phillip Dorsett moves up to WR42 between Chase Claypool and Parris Campbell.
WR37 Josh Reynolds, Detroit Lions
Josh Reynolds was limited in practice on Wednesday because of a back injury. If Reynolds misses this week’s game against the Green Bay Packers Khalif Raymond would be the next receiver to step up for Detroit.
