The 2023-24 NFL season has been outstanding so far. Already there have been a ton of breakout players and fantasy duds that have made the game so entertaining. Bye weeks are officially over. This means that playoffs have begun in your fantasy leagues. Most leagues are having their championship this week. During the playoffs Fantasy Managers will have full utilization of their roster and need to make sure they have backup options on their roster in case their stars get hurt. Plenty of injuries this season to crucial players make the pool of players to choose from on waivers that much thinner. It’s always a great idea to evaluate backup options so that way fantasy managers are prepared if star players miss time. Here are the fantasy football week 17 quarterback rankings.

[Check out the section below for details on players already rumored to possibly miss this week and how their replacement options rank for the week]
Key:
Must Start- a player who should definitely be in your lineup that week because of the combination of matchup and talent. They will likely finish near the top of the league in points that week and could repeat the production most weeks.
Starter- a player who makes fantasy owners comfortable starting week after week. Regardless of the matchup, this player has a high floor.
Low-End Starter- a player who should be started in most lineups but can possibly bottom out and finish below average on a given week. A high ceiling play in two-quarterback or superflex leagues.
Streamer- a player who could be a perfect replacement for a starter for a week or two. Starting this player may not win you your lineup but they will make sure that your production out of that position will not lose you your matchup either. Also a viable option in two-quarterback or superflex leagues.
Deep League Streamer- a player who could fill a void at a position in a deeper league. Their ceiling may be close to average point production at the position but their floor is enough to get through the week. A reasonable player to have in your lineup in two-quarterback or superflex leagues.
Leave on the Bench- a player who should be avoided in all lineups that week. Many times this player could even be left on waivers.

Players that are could miss this week’s game
QB6 Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers
Brock Purdy suffered a neck stinger last week against the Baltimore Ravens. Many believe if the game was closer Purdy would have reentered the game last week. If Purdy misses Week 17 against the Washington Commanders Sam Darnold becomes the QB22 between Will Levis and Easton Stick.
QB9 C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans
C.J. Stroud missed the past two games with a concussion. He suffered a concussion two weeks ago against the New York Jets. If Stroud misses Week 17 against the Tennessee Titans Case Keenum becomes the QB26 between Bryce Young and Mason Rudolph.
QB12 Trevor Lawerence, Jacksonville Jaguars
Trevor Lawrence suffered an AC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Lawerence has been dealing with multiple injuries the past few weeks and his status for next week is uncertain. If Lawerence misses Week 17 against the Carolina Panthers C.J. Beathard becomes QB28 between Tyrod Taylor and Jacoby Brissett.
QB21 Will Levis, Tennessee Titans
Will Levis missed last week’s game against the Seattle Seahawks with a sprained ankle. He suffered the injury two weeks ago against the Houston Texans. If Levis misses Week 17 against the Houston Texans Ryan Tannehill becomes the QB27 between Jarrett Stidham and Tyrod Taylor.
Players that are currently not expected to play
Russell Wilson, Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos decided to bench Russell Wilson for the remainder of the regular season. Wilson’s benching is mostly because of financial implications of his contract. It has been reported that the Broncos will likely cut Wilson in the offseason and go in another direction at quarterback. Jarrett Stidham will be the team’s starter over the team’s last two games. He will try to prove why he should be given an opportunity to be the team’s starter next season.
Sam Howell, Washington Commanders
It seems that the Washington Commanders are making a change at the quarterback position benching Sam Howell for Jacoby Brissett. In the past two games the Commanders have benched Howell for Brissett. At this point it appears that Washington may have seen enough from Howell to realize he is likely not the team’s future at the position. So they want to give Brissett the opportunity to keep this team competitive down the stretch.
Tommy DeVito, New York Giants
Despite all the excitement surrounding Tommy DeVito, the New York Giants have benched him for veteran Tyrod Taylor. DeVito has struggled at times and appear to want more consistency from their offense that Taylor could provide. This likely ends the talk of DeVito having a shot at being the team’s starting quarterback next season.
Zach Wilson, New York Jets
After missing last week’s game Zach Wilson has not cleared concussion protocol. He has now been ruled out against the Cleveland Browns this week. This puts Trevor Simian in a position to start again this week. New York has been a mess at quarterback all year because of injuries and inconsistent play. Simian could easily be the Jets starter for the remainder of the season.
