The 2022-23 NFL season has already been extremely entertaining. Bye weeks are starting to take place. This means that running backs like Jonathan Taylor and Aaron Jones will be out this week. On top of that injuries have started to mount up at this point of the season. It is always a great idea to evaluate backup options so that way fantasy managers are prepared if star players miss time. Here are the fantasy football week 14 running back rankings.
*Ratings are subject to change due to injury reports or possible move to reserve/COVID-19 list*
(Check out the section below for details on players already rumored to possibly miss this week and how their replacement options rank for the week)
Key:
Must Start- a player who is in your lineup regardless of the matchup or most circumstances. They Will likely finish near the top of the league in points that week and in most weeks.
Starting RB1- a player who makes fantasy owners comfortable starting week after week. Regardless of the matchup, this player has a high floor.
High-End RB2- a player who may isn’t likely to carry a lineup that week, but has the ability to have a breakout game and is teetering between RB1 and RB2 territory.
Starting RB2- a player who should be started in most lineups and should reach their point projection. This player is started is because of their consistency and moderately high floor
Low RB2- a player who may not be a lock to start for a team every week, but will start more times than not. Their production may not be pretty or win a person their lineup but the production is consistent enough to make a fantasy owner comfortable starting them.
Flex- a player who could float around the territory of being benched, but is started due to the potential to play better than their point projection. However, this player has the potential to flop and causes a fantasy team to lose if he has a bad game.
Deep League Flex- a player who is more of a Hail Mary throw at the position. There are enough reasons to leave this player on the bench, but their upside makes them an attractive option. Desperate times may call for a player like this to be inserted into starting lineups.
Leave on the Bench- a player who should be avoided in all lineups that week. Many times this player could even be left on waivers.

Possible Changes that can occur before Sunday
RB1 Josh Jacobs, Las Vegas Raiders
Josh Jacobs was limited in practice on Tuesday with quad and calf injuries. At this point the Raiders expect Jacobs to play against the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday. If he cannot play this week the Raiders backfield becomes a committee between Ameer Abdullah, Zamir White, and Brandon Bolden. Abdullah would move up to RB30 between Cam Akers and Samaje Perine. White would become the RB38 between Kareem Hunt and Gus Edwards.
RB3 Joe Mixon, Cincinnati Bengals
Joe Mixon missed the past two games with a concussion. After being limited in practice last week he is expected to play this week against the Cleveland Browns. If Mixon is out this week Samaje Perine moves up to RB7 between Rhamondre Stevenson and Dalvin Cook.
Seattle Seahawks Running Backs: RB10 Kenneth Walker III & RB47 Travis Homer
Kenneth Walker III is dealing with an ankle sprain that he suffered last week against the Los Angeles Rams. Travis Homer is dealing with an illness and knee sprain. If both are out this week against the Carolina Panthers DeeJay Dallas (if healthy) becomes the RB24 between Latavius Murray and Leonard Fournette.
If Walker III is inactive but Homer is active Homer moves up to RB22 between Najee Harris and Michael Carter. Dallas becomes the RB38 between Kareem Hunt and Gus Edwards.
If Walker is active but Homer is inactive Dallas becomes the RB48 between Dare Ogunbowale and Ty Johnson.
RB23 Michael Carter, New York Jets
Michael Carter missed last week’s game against the Minnesota Vikings with an ankle sprain. If he was to miss this week’s game against the Buffalo Bills Zonovan “Bam” Knight would move up to RB18 between Isiah Pacheco and Jeff Wilson Jr. Ty Johnson would move up to RB30 between Cam Akers and Samaje Perine. James Robinson would also be active for this game and could have a role.
RB34 J.K. Dobbins, Baltimore Ravens
J.K. Dobbins could be activated from Injured Reserve for this week’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He has missed the past six games with a knee injury. If Dobbins isn’t activated before Sunday’s game Gus Edwards will move up to RB30 between Devin Singletary and Cam Akers.
RB36 Damien Harris, New England Patriots
Damien Harris missed last week’s game against the Buffalo Bills with a thigh injury. If he misses this week’s game against the Arizona Cardinals Kevin Harris could get some work behind Rhamondre Stevenson.
