Having a good fantasy draft sets a team up really well, but most of the time to win a fantasy football league, acquisitions need to be made during the season. Each week there are several players worth exploring on the waiver wire. Here are fantasy football players to add week 12. (Note: These are best used for standard scoring leagues. All players are rostered in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues)
1. Christian Watson, WR, Green Bay Packers
Watson hasn’t had the season he would’ve liked so far. He is WR60 in standard-scoring leagues. In week 12, Watson stepped up and showed some life. He finished the game against the Bears he had four catches for 150 yards.
The Packers have a few different receivers Jordan Love can target, but Watson is the big play threat. Picking when to start him might be difficult, but it looked like the Packers were set on using him off of the bye. He is currently rostered in just 48.4 percent of ESPN leagues.
2. Xavier Legette, WR, Carolina Panthers
Legette was on bye in week 11. Before that he was showing signs of life. He has two touchdowns in the last three games the Panthers have played, even if the yardage isn’t quite where fantasy manager would like it to be.
The rookie seemed to be gaining some rapport with Bryce Young before the bye and could be featured after the team’s bye. He should be Carolina’s top option the rest of the year. Legette is rosterable, even if it is tricky to rely on his touchdowns. He is rostered in 40.4 percent of ESPN leagues.
3. Marquez Valdes-Scantling, WR, New Orleans Saints
The Saints acquired Valdes-Scantling a few weeks ago and he has been productive. He had three catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns in week 10. In week 11, he hauled in two passes for 87 yards and one touchdown.
Valdes-Scantling has brought a speed element to the offense. He is reliant on big plays, but he has been hitting on those the last few weeks. Picking up MVS can help a roster, but starting him could be tough. He is rostered in 14 percent of ESPN leagues.
4. Zamir White, RB, Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders haven’t had the best production out of their running backs. Alexander Mattison left their most recent game against the Dolphins with an injury. White had just five carries for nine yards before he left the game with his own injury.
White was getting more work earlier in the season and may take back over that workload if Mattison misses time. It is worth checking the injury status of both players before picking up White. He is currently rostered in 30.4 percent of ESPN leagues.
5. Taysom Hill, TE, New Orleans Saints
Hill had an incredible game in week 12. He had eight catches for 50 yards against the Browns. His usefulness is more than just as a receiver though. He added seven carries for 138 yards and three touchdowns.
Although he scores points unconventionally, Hill is TE3 in standard scoring leagues. His usage varies, so he has good and bad weeks, but owners hoping for a big day can put him in the lineup and get results on some weeks. He is rostered in 46.2 percent of ESPN leagues.
