One of the biggest strategies in fantasy football is streaming defenses. Each week owners will look at matchups and make waiver wire acquisitions to find their starting defense. Here are fantasy football defenses to stream week 15. (Note: All defense mentioned are rostered in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues)
*All stats and rankings from before Monday Night Football
1. Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins have a good fantasy defense that ranks ninth in the league at 6.7 points per game. They have really heated up recently with all four of their double-digit performances coming in the last five games. The defense has logged two negative-scoring performances, with the most recent coming in week 8.
Miami plays the Jets in week 15, which gives them a favorable matchup. The Jets score just 17.4 points per game and Zach Wilson has thrown 11 interceptions in just nine games played. With the Dolphins’ talented secondary, they could force some turnovers and put up some points. They are rostered in just 43.8 percent of ESPN leagues.
2. Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota has a below-average fantasy defense that scores five points per game and ranks 19th in the league. They have one 11-point outing, which was their best of the season. The Vikings also have one negative-scoring performance, which came at the hands of the Packers. For the most part, the Vikings score anywhere from four to seven points each weekend.
The Vikings match up with the Bears in week 15. Chicago scores 17.8 points per game and have had trouble moving the ball at times this season. If they play well, the Vikings can still make the playoffs, so they’ll likely be at their best in this game. Minnesota’s defense is rostered in just 30.3 percent of ESPN leagues.
3. Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles have an average fantasy defense, ranking 15th in the league at 6.1 points per game. They have three negative scoring games and four double-digit scoring games, making them one of the more erratic defenses in the league. With four straight decent games, the Eagles are trending in the right direction.
Philadelphia will play the Washington Football Team in week 15. Washington scores just 20.5 points per game this season. They have struggled to get the ball in the end zone consistently even when they are moving the ball well. With the Eagles coming off of a bye, they should be ready for this game. The Eagles are rostered in 26.8 percent of ESPN leagues.
4. Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals have played average fantasy defense, ranking 18th in the league at 5.5 points per game. Cincinnati has three double-digit results on the season. They also have two negative scoring games on the season. The Bengals have specifically had success getting after the quarterback this season.
Cincinnati plays the Denver Broncos on Sunday. The Broncos have specialized in winning because of their defense, as their offense scores 21.2 points per game. With Cincinnati’s defense playing tough, it is fair to think that Denver won’t have an offensive explosion in week 15. The Bengals are rostered in 12.4 percent of ESPN leagues.
5. Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville has not been great defensively this season, as they are 31st in fantasy scoring and average two points per game. They have five negative-scoring performances and just one double-digit scoring game on the season. Their biggest scoring game of the season came against the Bills.
They will have a much easier opponent this weekend when they play the Texans. Although the first time they played the Texans didn’t go so well, Houston has had plenty of players leave the roster or get injured. The Jaguars should only be played in desperation. They are rostered in 2.7 percent of ESPN leagues.
