One of the biggest strategies in fantasy football is streaming defenses. Each week owners will look at matchups and make waiver wire acquisitions to find their starting defense. Here are fantasy football defenses to stream week 13. (Note: All defenses mentioned are owned in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues. Stats from before Monday Night Football)
1. Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys have had a below-average fantasy defense, ranking 25th at 4.1 points per game. They have two double-digit scoring games, which were against the Browns and Commanders. Dallas has four negative scoring games, coming at the hands of the Saints, Ravens, Lions and 49ers.
This week, the Cowboys play the New York Giants. New York benched then released Daniel Jones, but the offense didn’t improve. They scored just seven points against the Buccaneers in week 12, bringing their average down to 14.8 points per game. That is the lowest in the league and the Cowboys can take advantage. They are rostered in 24.1 percent of ESPN leagues.
2. New York Giants
The Giants have had a decent fantasy defense this season, ranking 21st at 5.0 points per game. They scored negative points in a game two times, against the Commanders and the Buccaneers. Their two double-digit scoring games were vs. the Browns and Seahawks.
New York will play the Cowboys on Thanksgiving. They are averaging 20.1 points per game this season. Although they did score 34 points on the Commanders, the offense is worse with Cooper Rush at quarterback. If the Giants can get some pressure, they can have a solid game. They are rostered in 5.5 percent of ESPN leagues.
3. Seattle Seahawks
Seattle has a solid fantasy defense, ranking 11th at 7.0 points per game. They have tallied four double-digit scoring games, which were against the Broncos, Dolphins, Falcons and Cardinals. Their two negative scoring games were against the 49ers and Bills.
In week 13, the Seahawks play the New York Jets. While the Jets are coming off of a bye, they are scoring just 18.5 points per game this season. Since week 4, they have scored 20 points in a game just three times. It feels like the Seattle defense is starting to come together, so they could have another week when they boom. The Seahawks are rostered in 10.3 percent of ESPN leagues.
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers rank as the 23rd fantasy defense at 4.3 points per game. They have three double-digit scoring games, which were against the Eagles, Saints and Giants. Tampa Bay has two negative-scoring games: vs. the Falcons and the Ravens.
This week the Buccaneers play the Carolina Panthers. Bryce Young is playing better, but they still just average 17.6 points per game. The Buccaneers are riding high after defeating the Giants and could keep their momentum going in this game. Tampa Bay is rostered in 35.7 percent of ESPN leagues.
5. Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis is scoring 4.6 fantasy points per game, making them the 21st-ranked defense. They have two double-digit outings this year, which were against the Bears and the Vikings. The Colts have one negative-scoring game this season, against the Jaguars.
In week 13, the Colts play the New England Patriots. Drake Maye has shown some real promise at quarterback, but doesn’t have much help around him. The offense scores just 16.4 points per game this season, which ranks 31st in the league. The Colts can have one of their better performances and are rostered in just 7.8 percent of ESPN leagues.
