Evil Geniuses are seemingly not going to dodge the bad esports and economic climate. According to sources, Evil Geniuses have had rounds of layoffs. These have been across the organization and could extend to some of their esports teams in some capacity as well. This has sadly been the story of many different esports orgs over the past few months with many wondering what will come next.
There is no doubt that Evil Geniuses have been on the rise in recent years. They have teams that are franchised in League of Legends and VALORANT while also fielding teams in CSGO and DOTA 2. Most of these teams have been near or at the top of their respective esports in recent years as well.
This is sadly not the first or last esports org to be going through this. TSM and CLG have recently been in the news about their economic hardships as well. CLG in particular are apparently being bought out at least of their LCS spot but potentially more.
Esports has been struggling with many organizations shutting their doors either completely or in some of their major areas. As of right now, there are no indications as to what EG will do with their esports teams. Like many orgs though, it would not be surprising to see EG spend less as this is what many organizations and teams have had to do during these rough times.
