It was first announced by The Game Haus at 8 am EST that the OWL would be coming home for the 2020 season. Since then, there has been a flurry of announcements and speculation about the upcoming season.
To help break it all down, here is a timeline of all of the announcements and breaking news from all major outlets. This will be continually updated as more news comes to light.
July 16, 2019
8:00 am EST
- OWL is coming home! Primary announcement made about the 2020 season including:
- 2-5 homestands per OWL team
- Breakdown of two conferences into four divisions, containing five teams each
- No more stages or stage playoffs
- Dallas Fuel announce their five homestands
- These will take place across “multiple venues” spanning over North Texas. More specific announcements coming in the next few weeks.
- Mike Hume from the Washington Post announces that the Guangzhou Charge, Washington Justice, and Dallas Fuel all have five homestands.
- The NYXL announce that they will have two homestands
8:30 am EST
10:45 am EST
- The Game Haus confirms that the Washington Justice have five homestands
- Taking place in two D.C. venues, the Anthem and the ESA
11:30 am EST
4:00 pm EST
- Philadelphia Fusion announce that they will play host to three homestands in the 2020 season.
- It is also worth noting that they are the first team to confirm anything but two or five homestands.
